Legal Counsel (m/f)

Job Summary

    As a Legal Counsel you ensure provision of highest quality and comprehensive legal advice in banking and financial matters to internal (Management Board, Supervisory Board, other individual organisational units of the bank) and external stakeholders (shareholder, subsidiaries, regulatory bodies). Furthermore you provide legal documentation related to all activities of the bank and legal/regulatory correspondence with third parties (regulatory, criminal, civil and administrative authorities, suppliers and others). You are responsible for establishment, interaction and maintenance of strong and good relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including regulators and mitigation of respective legal risks.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice of highest quality to internal and external stakeholders

  • Mitigate legal risks as well as provide legal advice and drafting contracts

  • Draft and actively participate in correspondence with respective external regulatory bodies, civil courts, criminal authorities/bodies investigating criminal offences, administrative bodies or any other third parties as required

  • Provide individual legal advice in bank/group projects and topics related to Banking and Finance ( e.g. OTC derivatives, repos, security lending, large exposure and complex structured credit derivatives)

  • Provide legal advice in relation to drafting and review of internal guidelines and thereto related internal documentation in the respective area of law

  • Provide legal advice in relation to individual banking transactions/banking business activities (standardised client documentation, individual legal documentation for particular transactions - e.g. syndicated loans, etc)

  • Provide regular legislative updates in the respective area of law. Interacts with third parties for non-banking related business activities (suppliers contracts, etc) in defined area

Your Profile

  • University degree in law

  • Additional qualification: Bar Exam or Admittance to the Bar, Postgraduate or Doctor iuris

  • 5 years of relevant legal professional experience

  • Banking and financial advisory; international law firm, international bank/credit or financial institution or similar

  • Knowledge of Austrian and/or English law applied to banking and finance and awareness of current trends in the law and regulation

  • Good knowledge of MS Office and various law databases

  • Knowledge of English and German language is mandatory, knowledge of Russian or other CEE languages is an advantage

Annual Gross salary 80.000,- based on our collective bargaining agreement (for 38,5 hours/week) - additional payment according to skills and experience. The position can be filled as soon as possible.
